January 4th is the cutoff for applications for Precinct Committeman (Chairman in Tarrant County). You might check your district for the deadline. My husband turned in his paperwork today and I hope we can all make a difference in the 2010 elections. The March primaries are just as important (if not moreso) as the November election. If we stay focused and committed we can put some checks back into the governing body of this country.

Join in with your fellow Texans as we rally at the south steps at the Capitol in Austin. Purpose? For as many Texans as possible to call upon our Governor to issue an urgent call for a special session of the Texas legislature - the first step in the process of procedurally enacting nullification. January 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., Texas State Capitol on the South Steps."

Democratic Senator Tom Harkin - "On one side is health care as a privilege, on the other side is health care as a right. With these votes, with the vote that we'll take before Christmas, we will cross that line finally and say that health care is a right of all Americans."
The senator also predicted that while a public option was unlikely to work its way back into the current health reform legislation during reconciliation between the House and Senate bills, it would be back.

"I am a strong supporter of a public option, I remain so, and I believe that sometime in the near future we will revisit that issue again and we will adopt a public option."

We all knew the public option was still on the table, oh - I'm sorry, "under" the table. This bill is the structure that they will use to force everyone to it.

I think I had that wrong. Wasn't it that there used to be honor among thieves & they wouldn't steal from each other? I guess more a "change" we can believe in. "Politician" has replaced "used car dealer" and "lawyer" as the biggest scumbags, Oh yea, most politicians ARE lawyers!

Looks like there are some crooks in the Bexar County Democratic Party. Who would've thought? Maybe it's Bush's fault......

SAN ANTONIO -- New details have surfaced about the $200,000 in public money missing from the Bexar County Democratic Party.

The lawyer for party treasurer, Dwayne Adams, said he expects to have a clearer picture on Tuesday of what happened to the money.

"When I talked to my client, I mean, that was the first question that I asked," explained Attorney Charles Jones. "And he was unable to give me what I think is a total answer."

Jones said he asked his client to turn over bank statements and financial records from his personal accounts and those tied to his businesses and the Bexar County Democratic Party. Jones explained that he had already seen some of the records but wouldn't directly comment on them. He also seemed to be trying to shift the blame for the missing money to former party chairwoman, Carla Vela.

Attorney Charles Jones: "If the facts prove out that (Adams) didn't take the money, then who is responsible?
News 4 WOAI's Leila Walsh: "Are you suggesting that (Vela) is?"
Jones: "I am saying that whatever happens under (the chair's) watch is her responsibility."

News 4 WOAI talked to Vela on the phone. She said she probably should have had more oversight but added she is a trusting person, and she trusted the treasurer.

"When they do the investigation, they will see that (Adams) did it all by himself," Vela said. "He betrayed my trust and the party's, and that is just a shame."
