AMA & AARP have annouced they support Dem Health Care Bill

The push to overhaul health care received a major boost Thursday as the American Medical Association and AARP endorsed legislation drafted by top House Democrats.
The AARP, the nation's largest organization of older Americans, is a nonpartisan group that advocates for people 50 and older. The AMA, historically an opponent of health care reform, is considered one the nation's most influential doctors' advocacy groups."

Well there you have it. Some misleading lies are being staightened out one at a time.
1. Medicair will not be weaked but strengthened by this bill. Why would AARP support it otherwise, their very survival depends on not screwing over the seniors.

2. AMA doctors support the bill so they believe that beaurocrats will not get in the way of the doctor/patient relationship.

Now there are many other factors still to consider, and i would like more time to look at them, but one thing is certain, lies will not benefit the debate on the issues.

The AMA does not represent all Doctors, only about 17% of practicing physicians. The rank and file of the AMA are bringing forth a vote of NO CONFIDENCE against the board of directors of the AMA. And the AARP, well we all know WHY they are endorsing it. They also do not represent all seniors. Seniors are leaving The AARP in droves because they don't represent their interests. Get real will you. The lobbyists and special interests in DC are jockying for position. The majority of Americans do NOT support this health care bill and would rather pass nothing than what is on the table now. Check Rassmussen.com.

Michael, I never said anything about the AMA being against a public option. You must be thinking of someone else. I work with Doctors on a daily basis (well before the economic downturn, it's even rough in health care) and know that EVERY Doctor I have spoken with about this NONE of them are for this form of health care reform. And I know that every one of them do not belong to the AMA because "they do not represent them" and their oath of Do No Harm. Did you see the Doctors march on Washington? They are as concerned as the general public about the direction this administration is taking health care in this country. I hold no value in endorsements be they celebs or organizations. I think for myself and won't be led to the slaughter.

Also, I have never said I was a Republican. I've voted for Democratic Presidents AND Republican Presidents so I think that makes me an Independent. I did NOT vote for Obama, I had his number before he went on campaign. I was an Illinois resident for most of my life. I LIVED his policies. He's corrupt and too progressive for mainstream America. You only need to look at his relationships with the Unions and SEIU in particular to see he's just continuing the Chicago machine only on a national level. I will do everything in my power to see he is a one term president.

I can agree that the health insurance companies are greedy. Prices these days are through the roof!!! I just wish that the government would control it so much. A little control isn't bad. But alot....I would love to have health insurance but I cannot afford it right now.

That statistic came out of a Physician's mouth. I would believe him way before I believe anyone attempting to "spin " this situation in their favor. I am a Registered Nurse. I talk with Doctors every day. I and many, many other nurses are also against this health care bill. If it passes the Senate...many of us will be leaving the field for other areas of work. Doctors will defect so quick it will make your head spin. I refuse to be told how much I can make and that I am "required" to join a union. Yes, it's in this bill. In order for hospitals to qualify for this ridiculous plan, they have to require a certain number of employees become union members. I refuse to be TOLD by the government where I can work and what organizations I MUST belong to. Thank God I live in Texas!

Hey Obama, I've got a couple questions for you:

1. Isn't it your stated goal to extend coverage, and lower the cost of health care to all Americans? Aren't those Economic issues? Well...while it makes for great Photo Op to hand out white coats to a bunch of doctors you say support your plan, just what in the H does either AARP, or the AMA know about Free market Economics? In fact, considering you've never had a real job in your life, what do you know about Free Market Economics? Certainly no more than your predecessor, who's errors made it possible for you to be elected. You know it too, or you wouldn't keep trying to deflect attention from your socialist plans, and directed to Bush's failings. Man up, take responsibility for your economy, and your misguided socialist plans.
